Beside the foremost corner of the keep is the lower stage of the castle chapel, of which only a window jamb (side post) and the arch in the west wall now survive.
To the right of the chapel is a dark ground floor prison. Seen on the right are the remains of what used to be a prison cell, it is difficult to imagine being incarcerated in such a small space. The roof and the front are no longer present allowing much more air and light than would have been the case when this cell was in use as a prison.
